2010s Indie Sleeze

Like most eras and aesthetics do at some point, “indie” is a common style that stuck for quite a few years but comes in different variations – indie sleaze being one of them. This style gained attention again over this past summer, with the release of Charlie’s “brat” album and The Dare’s “What’s Wrong with New York”. Indie sleaze is recognized as an alternative cool girl style. It’s strange to be revisiting a style that was so recently relevant – 2010 was not a long time ago. This doesn’t follow the 20-year rule in the revival of fashion trends. Perhaps this represents the revisiting of childhood, especially in Gen Z young adults. Gen Z grew up faster and, thus, finds comfort in revisiting this 2010 indie sleaze style. These photos of 2010 indie sleaze represent an air of nostalgia in Verge – an expression of our childhood in the present.
